From when I can remember as a kid in elementary school, my English teacher would have us document in our journal about our interesting experiences, our personal life, things we learned that week, etc. The struggle I had with writing was being creative with free writing; coming up with my own ideas on the spot was too much pressure. For other people it might be easy but I would rather have a set topic for me to write so I can structure my paper, till this day I still have that struggle. As I got older I had so much help from my mom who has an Associates Degree and is an English major.
The help of my moms guidance of grammar and punctuation, it made my writing so much better before I turned in an assignment. My mom being the most literate person in my life, she embodies my work a little easier with the help of her expertise. When I was younger I did not like that idea of reading books but the advice my mom gave me is to read a lot of them so my writing and vocabulary would improve. She was right because I had a phase where I read a large amount of books and my essays were so much more bearable to read with the choice of my vocabulary and details so I thank my mom for that. I loved reading, I still do but I wish I had more time to do it, to actually find a really good book that is worth my time and is a beneficial for my studies.
Once you are at the age of adulthood you have to find employment. One important commodity about that is resumes. Resumes not only portray who you are or what you do but it always gives the employers insight on your writing. I am sure most people are serious about their resumes like me but this is potential life impact that can be negative or positive. For example, I am applying to a job that requires a fair amount of writing, I better proof read my grammar and make sure my information is accurate. Otherwise if you are being fraudulent on anything they will find out.
Technology evolves every year, especially the way of writing. The only smart devices I personally use is an Iphone, laptop, tv, and Ipad. The most beneficial ways of writing is an Iphone and laptop in my opinion because people communicate everyday by texting and through emails. Laptops give you more access in terms of oline classes because without a laptop you are not able to perform the work your professor is providing. Writing online is a good advantage because with Microsoft Word or Google Docs, you are able to construct an essay with the help of auto correct.
Finally, wanting to be a writer in the near future is really important to me because with the career path I am trying to pursue I want to be confident in my writing without having someone to help me. I am majoring in Public Relations so in this field of work I am writing and talking to coworkers and clients and it is important to master my writing and speech. What will it mean to be a writer? Once I am able to fully master the way of writing, I want to be able to help others the way my mom helped me.
